Battered Surimi Sticks with Dipping Sauce

The crunch in each bite of these surimi sticks is crispy battered coating will definitely make it onto your list of favorites. Served with the flavorful dipping sauce, these delicious sticks are guaranteed to disappear in a flash.

15 Surimi Sticks, thawed
1 cup flour
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup water
1 tsp salt
¾ cup breadcrumbs, (optional)
Oil, for frying
Dipping Sauce
¼ cup tomato sauce
¼ cup sweet chili sauce
2 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp soy sauce
½ tsp ginger
½ cup water

For extra crispiness, you can add the coating of breadcrumbs, as indicated in the recipe.
Mix the flour, baking soda, water and salt in a bowl and mix until a smooth batter, is formed.
Dip surimi sticks into the batter coating completely.
For an optional extra crispiness, place breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl and dredge each battered stick in crumbs.
Heat oil in a frying pan, and fry each coated stick over a medium – high flame for approximately 3 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown.
For the dipping sauce; combine all sauce ingredients in a small saucepan. Simmer over a low flame until heated through.
